Psychological Evaluations

Psychological Evaluations that Help Your Child Feel Seen

Every child deserves to be understood for who they are—not just for how they perform in school or how they behave in certain situations. Psychological evaluations provide answers, guidance, and a clearer path forward.

My psychological evaluations are personalized, evidence-informed, and strength-based. They are designed to uncover your child’s strengths, challenges, and unique profile so that you, your child, and their teachers have the tools needed to help them thrive.

The Evaluations

  • Does your child experience difficulties with focus, organization, or managing daily responsibilities? An ADHD evaluation can help us understand how your child’s brain works and whether these differences are affecting their learning or daily life. Evaluations can be focused or more in-depth, depending on whether there are also questions about learning, autism, or emotional well-being. My evaluations highlight your child’s strengths while also identifying areas where support may be helpful. I provide practical recommendations for school accommodations and strategies at home.

  • If you disagree with a school’s evaluation or simply want a second opinion, I provide Independent Educational Evaluations that are comprehensive, objective, and child-centered. My IEEs help parents and schools develop appropriate, evidence-based plans for support.

  • Every child communicates, connects, and learns in their own way. My autism evaluations explore social interaction, communication, and behavior to understand whether autism may fit for your child. Evaluations can be focused or more in-depth, depending on whether there are also questions about learning, ADHD, or emotional well-being. With this knowledge, I can connect you with the right supports, therapies, and educational planning.

I also take a PDA-affirming approach, recognizing that a child’s need for autonomy and control often comes from anxiety and nervous system differences—not defiance. My evaluations consider these patterns with compassion, helping families and schools understand a child’s unique profile and supporting strategies that reduce stress, honor autonomy, and build trust.

  • When a child is struggling in school despite effort, there may be underlying learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or processing challenges. My evaluations pinpoint these differences and guide personalized educational planning so your child can feel confident and capable in the classroom.

  • Children and adolescents can experience deep worries, sadness, or emotional overwhelm that impact daily life. My evaluations provide a compassionate and thorough understanding of a child’s mental health needs and create a roadmap for therapy, school support, or additional resources.

  • Giftedness doesn’t always look the same from child to child. This gifted evaluation identifies advanced abilities and provide documentation for gifted program placement, ensuring students are challenged and supported in ways that match their strengths.

The Process

  • Talk with Dr. Marchante-Hoffman to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and determine if an evaluation is the right next step for your child.

  • Meet virtually to gather background information, explore your child’s strengths and challenges, and clarify goals for the evaluation.

  • Your child completes a series of interactive tasks designed to understand how they think, learn, and process information.

  • With your permission, we gather insights from teachers or other important adults in your child’s life to better understand how they are doing in different settings.

  • Review the results of the evaluation. You will receive answers to your questions and a holistic understanding of your child's profile. Get individualized recommendations to help your child at home and school, including guidance on accommodations, school plans, and referrals for therapy or additional services.

  • I know it can be very challenging to navigate mental health or educational supports for your child. You won’t be left wondering what to do with the results. You will leave with a plan—and a partner who’s here to support your child’s journey beyond the evaluation.

Tiered Evaluation Options

Sometimes, a full, comprehensive evaluation isn’t necessary. Whether you already have previous testing and need a re-evaluation, are seeking a second opinion, or have a targeted diagnostic question, I offer flexible, tiered evaluation options designed to address your specific needs.

These streamlined assessments provide targeted answers without the extensive scope of a full evaluation. Please contact me to discuss which option best fits your child’s needs.
